Welcome to Sponsor A Horse

"Welcome to Sponsor A Horse where caring people like you make it possible for us to continue rescuing and rehabilitating neglected, abused, and abandoned horses. If we work together as a team we can save more horses than if we were all working individually."

We're so glad you found our site and hope you take this opportunity to help us help our equine friends in need. We appreciate everyone's support and hope you can join us to allow Sponsor A Horse.org to continue to save more horses. We hope you join and witness some remarkable recoveries made possible by members like you.

Have you ever wanted a horse, but things just never seemed to work in your favor? How would you like to help a horse in need? At Sponsor A Horse.org we rescue and rehabilitate horses that are unwanted, neglected, or abused. Over time we have accumulated older unadoptable horses that will stay here and live the remainder of their lives happily. Would you like to help support these horses and horses at other rescues nationwide? Join Sponsor A Horse.org and you will help us continue rescuing more horses and also to help us educate people on the serious equine issues that are taking place all over the United States. There are too many people breeding unnecessarily. Why breed when there are tens of thousands of horses in the United States that need homes already? It would be great to educate people and explain that breeding isn't for everyone. Because of the excessive amounts of breeding 93% of the 100,000 horses being slaughtered every year are perfectly healthy, but the truth is the United States is over populated with Equine animals.

How do theses horses become unwanted? There can be a variety of answers, but the most common we encounter are their child went off to college, they do not have the means to support them any longer, they are too much work, or they are just getting too old. The harsh reality is that sometimes these people just want to get rid of the animal and do not try to contact the proper authorities for help. So many times horses go to a killer sale because the owners were not educated on the alternatives for unwanted horses in their area.

Because we want to help as many animals as we can and we have accumulated the older unwanted horse over the years, it has become impossible for us financially to continue to take these horses that are unwanted. It breaks our heart to turn away a horse, but there may soon be times financially that if we do not say no that we could be put in the position of not being able to help any horses, including the horses we already own. It is our commitment to protect and take care of the horses we have already taken on and when we can, take on more needy horses. This is why we are asking for help from you and your friends. Please help us continue this fight against abused and neglected horses.

By becoming a member you will allow us to continue doing what we do best. In return, your membership will also give you access to our members only area of our website. In the members only area you will have access to articles that share the horses we have rescued experiences. We will be sharing updates on horses, and you will also be welcomed in our community where you may share your experiences with like minded positive people. So if you love horses and want to make a difference then welcome to Sponsor A Horse.org.

We also understand not everyone can help financially or become a member and donate money, but there are other opportunities to help. Maybe you know of an organization or company that would like to sponsor some horses. There are other options to help.

Sharing your experiences with us is a great way to contribute to our cause. Also, telling others about our cause and helping spread the word of what Sponsor A Horse.org is all about is greatly appreciated. If you are in a position and need some help or advice please contact us and we will try to be of assistance. By working together we can help more horses than if we did it alone. That's one reason we have decided to reach out to you and ask for assistance.

We have maintained operation with our own money for over 10 years, but now the cost of feed, hay, and bedding have skyrocketed making it impossible for us to do it alone. Also because the economy has declined more horses are in need, more owners are financially unable to support their animals. We need your help to continue our mission of saving horses and educating current and future horse owners.

For those of you who have already shared your stories, we are thankful. Our goal for this website is help each other in ways we never thought imaginable. We are very proud of our members, you are indeed a "special group" of people. Our dream for Sponsor A Horse.org is to create a large community that not only helps our cause here, but also helps other rescuing facilities throughout the United States. Building a national community, where we can help each other learn and benefit from individual experiences. This would help eliminate the need for every new rescue facility to "reinvent the wheel." By working together we will create a stronger more efficient network of rescuers to benefit more horses and people.

The more horses we rescue the more we wonder, who is the real benefactor, the horse we rescue or the people's lives the rescued horses touch.

Thank you for your support! Allen, Nancy, and Corri
